COACH WITH US
HELP THEM ASCEND.
At PGP Ascend, we believe coaches have the opportunity and responsibility to make an impact that goes far beyond the football field.
A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.
We're looking for Moms, Dads and members of our community who want to give their time, share their experience and create a positive environment where young athletes can learn, compete, build confidence and have fun. You don't need an extensive coaching résumé or years of football experience. You do need to care about kids, communicate well, lead by example and believe in what we're building.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A COACH
PUT THE KIDS FIRST.
This isn't about the athlete you were or weren't. It's not about a coach's record or reliving our own athletic experiences through our children. It's about
developing the next generation.
Our coaches create an environment where players feel supported, challenged and encouraged to grow. Kids should be allowed to make mistakes, learn from them and build confidence without feeling constant pressure to win.
MAKE IT FUN.
We absolutely want to compete. But we're coaching kids, and sports should be fun. Players should look forward to practices, Gamedays and being around their teammates. Winning matters when the game starts but it should never come at the expense of a child's confidence, development or love of the game.
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS.
Great youth coaches connect with more than players. We expect our coaches to develop positive relationships with athletes and their families and help create the sense of community that PGP Ascend is trying to build around.
COMMUNICATE.
Clear, consistent and respectful communication matters. Coaches should keep families informed, set expectations and create an environment where parents and players feel comfortable communicating with them.
LEAD BY EXAMPLE.
Every PGP Ascend coach is expected to know, respect and follow our
Coach Code of Conduct
without exception. How our coaches interact with players, parents, officials, opposing teams and one another sets the standard for our league and, more importantly, for our kids.
THE COMMITMENT
- One team practice each week
- Game(s) each Friday during the season
- Communicating consistently with players and families
- Creating a safe, positive and inclusive team environment
- Teaching fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship and respect
- Following the PGP Ascend Coach Code of Conduct
- Putting player development and well-being ahead of winning
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Of course we want our teams to compete. We want exciting games, great plays and championship moments. But a successful season is about more than a win-loss record. Did your players improve? Did they become better teammates? Did the quiet kid find their voice? Did a player bounce back after making a mistake? Did they learn how to win with humility and lose with grace? Did they leave the season more confident than when they arrived?
That's coaching. That's development. That's success.
You may teach them how to throw a football, run a route or pull a flag. But the lessons they remember most may be the ones about confidence, resilience, accountability, teamwork and believing in themselves.
BE THE COACH THEY'LL REMEMBER.
Give your time. Lead by example. Make an impact.
HELP THEM ASCEND.
DEVELOP. COMPETE. ASCEND.
